Safe Fan Installations by Licensed and Insured Mackay Electricians
To make your home safer, we recommend hiring a licensed electrician to install your ceiling fan. This will ensure that it’s done correctly and safely, and will not void your insurance. The True Fix Electrical team consists of licensed and experienced residential electricians who can help improve the safety of your home.
We Can Help You Choose The Right Ceiling Fan or Exhaust unit For Your Home
When purchasing a ceiling fan, consider the size of the room, your budget and desired material. If you want an AC (alternating current) or DC (direct current) fan, take into account whether you want to install an integrated light fixture. As DC fans tend to be more efficient than AC units, they offer greater control and are therefore more expensive. AC fans remain the most popular option for domestic spaces as they are less expensive.

When shopping for exhausts and combination light & heat units, there is a lot out there to choose from. A like for like option is generally the easiest if you are replacing an existing faulty unit. If you are after something a little different or an upgrade, bear in mind the cut out size for your new unit. If your replacement is smaller, you may need to patch the hole left from the old one. If it's bigger, we maybe able to just cut the existing hole out to suit.

We supply, install and repair a range of ceiling fans and exhaust fan light combos. Our team are happy to offer free quotes on the best type of ceiling fan for your home.

Did You Know?
Did you know if your ceiling fan is rotating in the wrong direction it won't be cooling?

Ceiling fans can be used in summer and winter. Modern ceiling fans have a ‘winter mode’ and can rotate in both directions, which can be adjusted depending on the season. The blades spinning in one direction cools the room for summer, while for winter, the direction is reversed circulating warm air around the room, saving money on heating bills. Our trained electricians will explain how to best use and set up your fan.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my ceiling fan is in summer or winter mode?
Most newer ceiling fans can be used to not only cool your home in summer but also to keep things warm in winter. The direction of the blades determines whether the fan functions as a heating or cooling device. Using the correct mode can save you money on your electricity bills during different seasons.
Are more fan blades better?
In terms of efficiency and performance, three- or five-bladed fans do not differ significantly. It is more a matter of personal preference as to which type of fan you choose. The only major difference is that as you get more blades you require slightly more electricity.
Do metal ceiling fans rust?
Modern metal wall fans are manufactured to withstand the elements. However, they can rust if they are overexposed to moisture or salt air. Therefore, in coastal areas it is advisable to choose a stainless-steel blade fan between a 304 and 316 grade or of a PVC composite material.
What's the best way to clean my ceiling fans?
Most fan models can be cleaned with multipurpose cleaning spray and a wipe. Be sure to read the instruction manual for your specific model to ensure there are not any additional cleaning requirements.
